The price of fuel increased again...yeah! Our so loving goverment decided we had the cheapest fuel around and decided hey..why not increase in by 78 cents. And our beloved Prime Minister has the audacity to warn us to look out for other things price increase. Are you daft? Of course the price of things will be hiking the Everest. Everything from your 'telur ayam' to you cargo is moved by things powered by fuel. Remember the 10 cents increase, after that almost everything increases by 10 cents even your favourite 'roti canai'. Now it spike to 80 cents (courtesy of the jimat and senang kira by Bank Negara). What will happen after this? God helps us all.
Since our government love to compare between us and Thailand, since Thailand is said to have quite the highest fuel price among the region, lets compare other things also...
First of all the price of cars in Thailand in condsiderably cheaper than us. Yes...folks unfortunately when in comes to things likes taxes that fund the coffers of our government, they never decided to 'least the burden' of the rakyat.
Thailand highway didn't have any tol plaza collecting money. It's freeway all the way. So compared to Malaysian that have to fork out RM200 for fuel and another RM200 for the insipid journey through the so called modern highway...at the end... we are paying more than those people in Thailand. I just never get it...who was the stupid moron who signed the one-sided toll concessionaire contract, and who are these concessionaires whom after almost 20 years never seem to get any profit out of our pocket? A business without profit after 20 long years is just pure stupidity, so why are they still there?
If they want to make the public transport as the main transportation for Malaysian, increase the quality of the bloody service first! (no doubt even this mean of transporation will be joining the price increase group after this)
I'm just glad I live in Penang right now, where the idea of toll plaza had been bulldozed over and over again by the citizen, and since DAP is in power right, I don't think there will be anyone stupid enough to suggest paid highway in Penang again.
For those living in city circled by toll plaza...like KL, my condolences...
The common dogma [of fundamentalists] is fear of modern knowledge, inability to cope with the fast change in a scientific-technological society, and the real breakdown in apparent moral order in recent years.... That is why hate is the major fuel, fear is the cement of the movement, and superstitious ignorance is the best defence against the dangerous new knowledge. ... When you bring up arguments that cast serious doubts on their cherished beliefs you are not simply making a rhetorical point, you are threatening their whole Universe and their immortality. That provokes anger and quite frequently violence. ... Unfortunately you cannot reason with them and you even risk violence in confronting them. Their numbers will decline only when society stabilizes, and adapts to modernity G. Gaia
