Seeking happiness

I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve -Albert Schweitzer

A few gloomy period past my day..some incident that will surely engrave in some part of my brain that had certainly alter a few aspect of my life. Happiness does come at a very high price.

Remembering those events somehow remind me of a story I read in Waris Dirie outobiagrapy, a story of a poor village sheperd with nothing else except a few goats and a tent to live in, but he was a very happy man and everyone around knew so, contrary to the king of the land who has everything he wanted and more but somehow is a very unhappy man. One day the king decided to seek this poor sheperd to ask him what is it that makes him happy. He hopes for some kind of happiness formula from the sheperd.

So one day the sheperd is brought to see the king and his glorious castle. The sheperd was awestruck. When asked my the king what is it that makes him happy he just reply that he has everything he needed and are very contented with it. Listening to the answer the king fely cheated because he has everything he wanted yet he is still unhappy. Anyway the sheperd was send back to his village but things change for him because after the visit to the castle, seeing how magnificent the life of the king, his life as a sheperd seems constricted. He wanted more...at the end the happy sheperd became an unhappy person because he has seen the what wealth and money can buy. He was not contented anymore. As the king ....he remains an unhappy man.

I want to be happy but somehoe knowings some facts can steer you out of it.

Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort -Franklin D. Roosevelt
