Penang: The delicious places to eat

Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It's not about nutrients and calories. It's about sharing. It's about honesty. It's about identity- Louise Fresco

I am a Penangite by virtue since I've been living here for years. My mom was born and bred Penangites, and like all others we like to eat delicious food that appeal to our senses. Not just sitting in some hipster cafe with nice decorations. This is my list of places that is worth to try (I've been trying to write this for years...and this list will be updated from time to time)

1.Nasi Kandar Kg Melayu
If you want genuine original Penang Nasi Kandar this is the place. None other nasi kandar taste like what they serve here.(Pelita, Kayu, or whatever fancy don't hold a candle to this place).

In the morning they are open from 6.30am  to noon at:

A-29, Ground Floor, Rumah Pangsa,
Jln Kampung Melayu,
Kampung Melayu, Air Hitam
Tel: 019 5755 877, 012 5839771

And at night they are in Farlim:
Komplek Penjaja (MPPP)
Desa Mawar, Farlim Air Itam
Operation hours: 4.30 pm – 10.30 pm

2. Ramzan Nasi Kandar
Eventhough known as Ramzan Nasi Kandar, we always like to eat their Briyani which is definitely one of the best briyani in town. The shop is located at Lebuh Ah Quee along the road of that famous boy on a bike. It is just opposite of Masjid Kapitan Keling near Armenian Street.

Address: 48, Lebuh Ah Quee, 10200 Penang
Operation hours: 6am to 5.30pm (close on Sunday)

3. Tajuddin Hussain
This restaurant earns the accolade of having 'insanely good curry' which is absolutely correct

It's located at
51, Lebuh Queen, George Town,
10200 George Town,
Operation hours: 11am-3.30pm  and 6pm-10pm.
Close on Sunday
