Jane Goodger has always been one of my favorite author starting when I first read her time travel romance 'When There Is Hope'.

I having a bit of reader boredom, when everything you read seems a like when I came across 'How to Please a Lady'.

By this I was bored with all the first point of view, not written fluently and 'fifty shades want to be'. Seriously that book is bad, trying to copy it is more so. Have you ever realized that this kind of books have a lot of stars in Goodreads review, and the review is so long winded I'm beginning they are paid or bots.

Anyway back to 'How to Please a Lady' the excerpt reads:

"Run though they might, love will find them…

Lady Rose Dunford is shocked--and titillated--by the number of female visitors coming and going from her mysterious new neighbor's Manhattan brownstone. Recently widowed by the death of her very sweet, but not very exciting husband, Rose finds it difficult to imagine just what the attraction could be.

And then she meets the bachelor in question. Not only is Charlie Avery dashing and outrageously good looking--she knows him! He is none other than the man who once helped her escape the dreary matchmaking plans of her father, the man she once dreamed she could love. Can Charlie's presence next door be an accident? Or has he come to show her everything he has learned about…"

So here is the gist, Charlie love Rose from they are children and because of that he is willing to participate in her mad scheme of running away to America to find a husband. There is the story of them on a ship to America which might remind you of Titanic without the sinking.

While reading it I was hoping Rose realize what a gem Charlie is, but Rose was brought up when class is  drum into her head from when she was small so she can never see how Charlie might become her husband.

Anyway to cut the story short, Rose married someone else whom she feels belong in the same class and Charlie is left licking the wounds, luckily he was smart and start an enterprising company which made him rich.

So the husband died and Charlie got his second chance with Rose. Of course it's not a straightforward thing, Rose is still a bit dense when it comes to Charlie, therefore we have a story a Rose and Charlie, one trying to woo without being obvious while the other need to figure out she is being wooed.

If you like a story about best friends unrequited love, you might one to give this book a chance. The only problem I have with this book is the ending, After being stupid for a long time, Rose finally realize she love Charlie while in they are in bed...duh..
