So...

A good catchword can obscure analysis for fifty years. ~Wendell L. Willkie

I want to make a suggestion to the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka to insert the word 'so' in Kamus Dewan as 'kata penghubung', a group with 'maka'. Why? If you listen to Buletin Utama or talkshow or any other programme on TV you will realize just how many people interviewed used the word 'so' as their linking words although everthing else is in Malay. From Pak-Pak Menteri to all youth in school, everyone is linking their sentence with so. The worst are they people in those urban areas. The irony of it, they are all Malay. While Karam Sign Walia is giving us all the old proverbs, the Malays are murdering their language structure.

So, maybe the DBP should think about it.

P/S: It makes me cringe, wondering what is wrong with maka.

The English language is nobody's special property. It is the property of the imagination: it is the property of the language itself. ~Derek Walcott
