The wonder of language

I personally believe we developed language because of our deep inner need to complain. ~Jane Wagner

cuteI just found out that the word Volvo was Latin for roll or turn and from the root word volv or volt came words such as evolve, involve, revolt and convolvulus. While the meaning of each word varies but the main meaning centred around the root meaning of roll or turn. Just like the word vis or vid means see in Latin and became the root for words like vista, video and vision.

Among all the amazing wonders in the world the one that never cease to amaze me is the process of us the human being learn and understand language. The process of understanding, interpreting, speaking and writing...the whole process of communication is one of the many evidence of God’s power.

For me the one of the greatest wonder of the world is how a baby learnt to understand and communicate. How a little tiny infant learnt from its surrounding, colours, sounds, faces and gradually understand what being said to him and then master how to talk back is a miracle, there are no textbooks, no guideline, and no chapter to be followed but yet every healthy babies in world learnt to understand the language being spoken and talk back. We can prod and poke, record every EEG data did every research but yet we can never understand how we learnt to talk. Amazing!

Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.-Anynomous
