Saving your pen drive

What to do if you find yourself stuck in a crack in the ground underneath a giant boulder you can't move, with no hope of rescue. Consider how lucky you are that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you so far, which given your current circumstances seems more likely, consider how lucky you are that it won't be troubling you much longer - Douglas Adam

My sister came to me last night begging me to save her pen-drive after a massage keep popping up telling her to format the pen-drive in order to use it. (BTW her name is Syira...she ask me to mention her name in my post..so I guess I have to credit her for giving me the task to solve) I'm sure most of us has had this problem and the easiest solution is to just reformat the whole thing and say goodbye to all your data.

That is why it is necessary to have at least 2 sets of data available to you. Save it on your hard disk, CD or put it on the net. There are a lot of file storage website available, like DivShare, Esnips, MediaFire , 4shared or if you have a Gmail account used that...by attaching your file and saving it in draft. Although it have a limited attachment file size.

But if the data on your pen drive is the only one you have and it is very..very important maybe you want to used a data recovery tool. One of it is Pen Drive Data Recovery. Unfortunately it is not free (it cost USD 45) but it works miracle on retrieving your corrupted pen-drive data. (used it before you start formatting your pen drive) A warning though....not all your data can be save in perfect condition, some of it might still be corrupted after being save. Another software is MediaRescue (cost about USD 39.95) but this software is build more on saving your media file like video, picture and MP etc..or you can try DigitalPhoto Rescue... (about USD 29.95) it can rescue a lot of digital format from your drive

Then come the formatting pain...ussually you just click on the format button supplied when you tried to open the pen drive. Another way to format is by going to your "My Computer" right-click on the icon and click on 'Manage' and then click on storage. Find you pen drive, right click on it and choose format.

My Computer-right click >Manage>Storage>(your disk-right click)>format

But sometimes after chosing format..your whole pen-drive is no longer viewable...it's a sign your pen-drive is almost beyond help. Another way is by using the format software provided by the pen drive company...this is ussually useless anyway..

Last attempt at formatting is by going to your 'Command Prompt' in windows, then write the following

FORMAT (your drive):/FS:FAT32/X

If after all this attempt failed then it's better to get a new one. They are selling it cheap nowadays..

If anyone knows any other ways of trying to save your pen drive ..let me know
